Learn how to create custom coffee products from our catalog, design unique packaging, and prepare for selling
Creating your first product is an exciting step in building your coffee brand. This guide walks you through the entire process from selecting your coffee to publishing your product.
Understanding the Product Creation Flow
Creating a product in Roastify involves three main decisions:
- What format - Boxes, pods, or instant coffee
- What coffee - Choose from our catalog of roasts
- How it looks - Design your custom packaging
API stores manage products externally. This guide covers wholesale and Shopify store product creation.
Product Types Available
When you create a product, you first select what format you want to sell:
12oz Boxes
Boxes containing 2-3 coffee bags inside. Our most popular format. Great for gifts and premium offerings.
Coffee Pods
Keurig-compatible pods for single-serve convenience.
Instant Coffee
Premium instant coffee packets or jars. Perfect for customers who want great coffee without equipment.
How to Start
Navigate to Catalog in the main navigation
Select the product type you want to create (click on the button)
The page will show available coffee options for that format
Step 2: Choose Your Coffee
Before designing, select which coffee you want to use. This is a key decision that affects your product's flavor profile and target audience.
Understanding Coffee Options
We organize our coffee catalog by:

| Flavor Profile | Fruity, floral, chocolatey, nutty, caramel, spice |
How to Browse Coffees
Use the Search bar to find specific coffees
Filter by Roast Level using the dropdown
Filter by Plan Type (some coffees are Pro-only)
Click Learn More on any coffee to see details
Order samples of coffees you're considering before committing to a full product! This ensures the flavor profile matches your customers' expectations.
Step 3: Design Your Packaging
Now the fun part - making your product look amazing! You have two options:
Option A: Start from a Template
We offer professionally designed templates to speed up your process:
Click Templates in the designer
Browse template categories:
- Modern
- Classic
- Minimalist
- Bold
- Seasonal
Click on a template to preview it
Click Use This Template to start editing
Option B: Start from Scratch
Want complete creative control? Start blank:
Click New Design or Blank Canvas
Add your own:
- Logo and branding
- Colors and fonts
- Images and graphics
- Text and messaging

Step 4: Preview Your Design
Before finalizing, see how your design looks in real life:
Click the Preview or 3D View button
Rotate the product to see all angles
Check how it looks in different lighting
Download mockup images for marketing
Take multiple mockup photos from different angles. These are great for social media and your website!
Step 5: Finalize and Save
Review your design for:
- Correct spelling and contact info
- Appropriate image resolution
- Legible text sizes
- Aligned elements
Give your product a name (for your internal reference)
Click Save Product
Both whole bean and ground variants are included by default. Shopify users can modify variants in their Shopify admin.
Product Limits by Plan
Your plan determines how many products you can create:

|---|---|
| Free Trial | Unlimited during trial |
| Base | 3 published products |
| Pro | 15 published products |
You can have more products than your limit in draft status, but you can only publish up to your plan limit.
Common Questions
"Can I change the coffee after creating the product?"
No. Once you create a product, the coffee selection is locked. If you want a different coffee, create a new product.
"How do I edit my design after saving?"
Go to Products in the navigation
Find your product and click on it
Click Edit Design to make changes
Save any changes
"Can I duplicate a product?"
Yes! On the Products page, click the three dots menu on any product and select Duplicate. This creates a copy you can modify.
After Creating Your Product
Your product is now saved and ready to use:
Create a Wholesale Order
Order products for yourself or to fulfill customer orders. Create Order →
Sync to Shopify
Make your product available in your Shopify store. Sync Products →
Tips for Success
Design Tips
- Use high-resolution images (300 DPI minimum)
- Keep text simple and readable
- Make your brand name prominent
- Include your website/contact info
- Test colors for readability
Product Tips
- Start with 2-3 products, not too many
- Offer variety (light, medium, dark roasts)
- Consider your target customer's preferences
- Order samples to verify quality
